By Thursday night, I’m a bit tired and burned out. This Thursday I went out to see “The worst movie ever made” with a friend – Plan 9 From Outer Space (which is free to watch on Amazon Instant if you have Prime). One of our local movie theaters played it in 3D, and it was so fun and funny to see an old, bad movie in a theater with a group of other people who are enjoying the kitsch, too. I also found out that it’s being remade! Something to watch out for.
Anyhow, when I got home, the last thing I wanted to do was spend a bunch of time making a lunch for G1 (G2 and G3 are with their dad Thursday nights). I made a quick, cute, and easy lunch that played off her love of pandas and pineapple, some favorite leftovers, and the fact that it’s been sunny and warm for a few days here in New England. The sun and warmth is so welcome in mid-October!
G1′s Totoro bento box has a bottom compartment that has a plastic lid and appears to be leakproof. The top section has vents along the sides (which you can see in the above picture), so while it has a plastic lid that clicks on, it’s definitely not leakproof! So, in the leakproof section we have pineapple chunks with panda picks and a sunshine yellow silicone cup with a homemade fruit roll-up in it and a yellow animal-shaped silicone cup with a second fruit roll-up in it. In the top section are two gf sugar cookies made using this fabulous panda cookie cutter, plus a gf chocolate cupcake with yellow buttercream icing and a panda food pick on top.
G1 also has a sunshiny yellow Knork fork, a napkin, and a Thermos packed with leftover lasagna. Yesterday’s very similar lunch came home completely eaten, so this should be a hit. I don’t think they can sword fight with pandas, though.
